OUR BADGE
HOW CAN PEOPLE TELL THAT WE BELONG TO
GIRLS' BRIGADE?
GIRLS' BRIGADE?
No matter what company we are from or what country we are in, we all wear the same badge. Our badge is made up of different parts:-
THE LAMP
A lamp gives out light. Jesus is often call the "Light of the world". It is one of the special names he is given in the Bible. When we have a light we can see things clearly and it make us feel safe. A very special thing about light is that it spreads out from its source and brightens up everything around it.
THE CROSS
At Easter we remember the events leading up to Christ's crucifixion and resurrection. The symbol of the cross is a reminder to us all of the price Jesus paid for the forgiveness of sins. It reminds us how much our Heavenly Father loves us.
THE CROWN
A King is someone who is born to lead his country. He has powers over his nation, usually called his Kingdom. Jesus was born in humble circumstances to be our King. When Jesus was born, wise men came from the East asking "Where is the one who has been born King of the Jews?" Just before his death Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey to make what the prophet had said come true, "See your King comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey".
THE TORCH
The torch represents the flame of Christ's living Spirit. After Jesus was raised, he told the disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit to come. The Holy Spirit would give them the power they needed to go into the world and tell everyone about Jesus and the things he had taught them and about God and the right way to live. Fifty days after Easter, on the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came to the disciples.
In the centre a CROSS, a symbol of Christ and His Church.
